PEDRO — Maybe the Rock Hill Redmen should make every game Senior Night.
Of course, it helps that all the seniors and a few others are finally healthy.
The seniors turned in big games as the Redmen rolled past the River Valley Raiders 48-14 on Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
“Our seniors kind of stepped up and performed well for us. All of them have been making plays for us here and there in different games. We did a good job spreading the ball around,” said Rock Hill coach Todd Knipp.
Jared Bruce ran seven times for 129 yards and two scores, Trey Wilds caught four passes for 74 yards and a score and returned a kickoff for a touchdown, and Jesse Lane caught three passes for 110 yards.
Will McCollister ran eight times for 77 yards and two touchdowns while hitting 9 of 12 passes for 222 yards and two TDs.
Overall, the Redmen had 506 total yards including 284 on the ground.
“Our offensive line did a good job. Any time you have more than 500 yards offense, you’re clicking pretty good,” said Knipp. “Defensively we played pretty well. The kids ran to the ball well and tackled well.”
Wilds reached down and made an outstanding one-handed catch for a 33-yard touchdown pass and kicked the extra point.
Bruce shook loose and rambled 57 yards for a touchdown as Rock Hill (3-6, 2-2) led 13-0 in the first quarter.
Bruce had an 8-yard scoring run in the second quarter and McCollister tossed a 23-yard touchdown pass to Jonah Cox for a 27-0 halftime lead.
McCollister pushed the lead to 34-0 when he kept and ran 59 yards for a touchdown to start the second half.
River Valley (1-8, 0-4) used the running of Patrick Williams to answer and Williams scored on a 3-yard run to trail 34-7.
But Wilds returned the ensuing kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown and it was 41-7.
McCollister capped the Rock Hill scoring with a 3-yard run in the fourth quarter and it was 48-7.
The Raiders completed the scoring on a 12-yard run by quarterback Trey Noble.
Williams led River Valley with 136 yards on 34 carries.
